Mrs Ruth Shaw - HLTA

Mrs Ruth Shaw

Hi, I am Ruth Shaw and am a HLTA, working mostly in KS2. I have a love of maths and PE and run our school's cross country club. I am passionate about sport and exercise and their many benefits.

In my spare time, I coach athletics and enjoy cycling.

I love my role here at Griffydam School and find it extremely rewarding. I love the close knit feel of our village school and am proud to be a part of it.

Mrs Sue Jackman - Teaching Assistant

Mrs Sue Jackman

Hi! My name is Sue Jackman and I have been associated with the school since 1995. All three of my children attended this school and really loved it. I became a parent helper because of this and, after my youngest started school, I was offered a job...and have been here ever since!

I love reading, sports, gardening and cooking.

I work mostly with Class Two and love helping the children with their reading.

Miss Vicki Calow - Teaching Assistant

Miss Vicki Calow

My name is Vicki Calow and I have worked at Griffydam since 2008. I have worked in both KS1 and KS2 as an LSA and have also supported children with SEN individually.

My background as an illustrator has proven to be invaluable in school. I am looking forward to supporting the children in continuing their art skills and to being part of a supportive team.

I started off at Griffydam as a TA apprentice. I have been at Griffydam for over 3 years and am enjoying every minute of it. I particularly enjoy supporting the children in forest school and during art lessons.

Miss Kirsty Taylor-Jaina - TA

Miss Kirsty Taylor-Jaina
Hi, my name is Kirsty, and I am a teaching assistant at Griffydam Primary School! During lockdown, whilst homeschooling my son. I realised that supporting and teaching children was my passion and subsequently enrolled on an NVQ level two and three course in supporting, teaching, and learning.

My son, who has autism was also at Griffydam all throughout his primary education and really flourished. My work placements ( via college) were all at Griffydam too and over many years I have been privileged to gain valuable knowledge, experience, and see all the children grow throughout their primary school years.

I am so happy to be a part of this AMAZING school and look forward to continuing my Griffydam journey for many, many years to come.

Ultimately, my goal and passion are to also incorporate my nurturing and understanding of children with SEN (special educational needs) helping them to navigate any challenges they may have to face.
